GISS Technology – Smarter Semi-Solid Metal Casting

GISS Technology (Gas-Induced Semi-Solid) is a breakthrough innovation in metal casting that enables high-quality, cost-effective production using semi-solid aluminum alloy slurry.

At the heart of this technology is a patented process that injects micro-sized inert gas bubbles into molten aluminum to create a uniform slurry with excellent flow characteristics. This slurry can then be used in high-pressure die casting (HPDC), gravity casting, and centrifugal casting applications.

Key Benefits:

🔹 Improved Casting Quality
By reducing gas and shrinkage porosity, GISS ensures stronger, defect-free parts with superior surface finish and structure.

🔹 Lower Production Costs
GISS extends die life, reduces cycle time, and allows casting at lower temperatures, which saves energy and cuts operating costs.

🔹 Higher Productivity
The system is designed to integrate smoothly into existing casting processes, delivering high repeatability and better material utilization.

🔹 Process Flexibility
GISS Technology supports a wide range of aluminum alloys and can be customized to meet specific application needs across automotive, aerospace, and industrial sectors.

GISS GIGA Unit

The GISS GIGA Unit represents the latest advancement, capable of producing up to 100 kg of semi-solid slurry per cycle. It is optimized for large structural castings such as automotive body parts made through Gigacasting.

With just 5–10 seconds of GISS processing, the system creates a superheated slurry during die dwell time, helping to shorten solidification time and reduce overall cycle time.

Applications:

  • Gigacasting

  • EV structural parts

  • Engine and transmission housings

  • Large-scale aluminum components
